Last Sunday, 28, we publicly announced an agreement for IBM to acquire Red Hat with the goal of creating the world's most important hybrid cloud provider, which will provide the industry with modern and flexible open source solutions for developing any class of applications and deployments.
This operation, based on a relationship of more than 20 years between the companies, will result in the necessary scalability and acceleration for open source solutions to now arrive with a much greater impact, to all of our customers who are going through the digital transformation process.Red Hat will be an independent unit within IBM's Hybrid Cloud Business segment.
IBM's commitment to open source innovation and our development model remain the same. The entire Red Hat team, together with IBM, will continue advancing their conviction about the power of participation and collaboration in the world.
Will the Open Source world win? Only time will tell.
